Moleskin ist ein dicht gewebter Baumwoll-Twill, dessen Rückseite angeraut wird – daher der samtige Griff und der Name. Der Stoff ist abriebfest, hält Wärme und bekommt mit der Zeit die Patina, für die man ihn kauft. Als Overshirt geschnitten wird daraus die Schicht für den Übergang: über dem T-Shirt an kühlen Tagen, unter der Jacke, wenn es kälter wird.
