Slopes
Obertauern is built in a ring shape around the Tauern Pass – the Tauern Circuit takes you from lift to lift throughout the entire ski area without needing a car, and can be done in both directions.
Red loop clockwise, green loop counter-clockwise. The Bobby loop for children, the My Track loop for the adventurous.
The seven highest mountain stations – Zehnerkar, Hundskogel, Panorama, Gamsleiten 2, Plattenkar, Schaidberg, Seekareck – offering the most expansive views.
The steepest classic in the ski resort. Emptiest early in the morning, not for the first turn.
Wide practice slopes and the Bobby-Runde for the little ones. Children up to their 6th birthday ski free with their parents.
Additionally: Night skiing every Monday and Thursday under floodlights, and on selected days "Good Morning Obertauern" with earlier lift times. Photo stops: the #LOVEOBERTAUERN picture frame, the panoramic swing on the Schaidberg, and the 360° viewing platform on the Hundskogel.

Après-Ski & Evening
After the last run, the fun often continues directly: Obertauern has its own après-ski mile with around 25 huts and bars. The question is less whether to go, but rather where.
Après-ski hotspot with legendary parties and great hospitality. There can be only one.
Right on the slopes, sun terrace and the classic après-ski stop after the lifts close.
À la carte restaurant in the Hotel LÜ in the center of town – for all those who prefer a quieter end to their day of skiing.
Around 25 huts and bars invite you to linger after the lifts close – from umbrella bars to Schlager bars.
Season highlight: The Ski Opening Week from November 27th to December 8th, 2026 starts with live concerts – this year featuring Die Fantastischen Vier and Anastacia.

Arrival
The Tauern Pass is located on the direct connection between Salzburg and Carinthia – easily accessible from all directions.
A10 Tauern Motorway, Radstadt exit (Exit 63), continue on the B99 to Radstadt and then approx. 20 km uphill to Obertauern.
A10 Tauern Motorway, St. Michael exit (Exit 104), via Mauterndorf to Obertauern – approx. 27 km.
Radstadt train station (approx. 20 km), from there Postbus line 280 or, in high season, the free Village Shuttle. With a valid ski pass, you travel for free anyway.
Salzburg Airport approx. 1 hour, Munich approx. 2.5 hours. The FREUDENHAUS Taxi will pick you up directly at the train station or airport.

Summer
When the snow goes, high-altitude trails, mountain lakes, and clear air remain. Obertauern becomes quieter – and that is precisely its strength in summer.
280 km of hiking trails and over 20 alpine huts. The summer lifts operate from July 3rd to September 20th, 2026.

11-hectare wildlife park with 40 animals in open enclosures, directly connected to the family amusement park.

History
A place with over 100 years of skiing history – and a few stories that go far beyond ski tourism.
One of the oldest transport routes in the Alps crosses the Radstädter Tauern. The Roman stones in the village bear witness to this to this day.
In 1965, the band filmed winter scenes for their movie "HELP!" up here – and gave a spontaneous private concert in the village.

An independent snow study by ski tourism researcher Günther Aigner shows: With an average maximum snow depth of 264 cm, Obertauern has the highest values of all Austrian winter sports resorts compared – stable for over 100 years.
Obertauern is located in a ring around the Tauern Pass – you can ski from lift to lift through the entire ski area, without a car or shuttle. The red circuit goes clockwise, the green one counter-clockwise; for children there is the Bobby circuit, for the adventurous the My Track circuit.
The winter season usually runs from the end of November to the beginning of May. The Ski Opening Week from 27.11. to 08.12.2026 kicks off with live concerts by Die Fantastischen Vier and Anastacia.
Yes. The nearest train station is Radstadt (approx. 20 km), from there you can take Postbus line 280 or, in peak season, the free Village Shuttle to Obertauern. With a valid ski pass, travel between Obertauern and Radstadt is free anyway, and the Guest Mobility Ticket covers all public transport in the region from May 2025.
From 1.5 days onwards, the Obertauern ski pass is also valid in the Grosseck-Speiereck ski area in Mauterndorf, which is approximately 15 km away.
Children up to their 6th birthday travel free of charge when accompanied by their parents. After that, discounted child and youth rates apply, staggered by year of birth.
