03Details for the hands

Your hands.
Your winter.

The Reusch selection focuses on gloves for winter use. Different sizes, cuffs, and features allow for selection according to personal needs. The feeling of warmth, ease of equipment operation, and the transition to the jacket sleeve are all considered. Special model functions complement these basics without being equally assumed for every glove.

Choosing Reusch Ski Gloves for Your Ski Day

A good ski glove needs to do more than just feel soft when you first put it on. You use it to grip your pole, open zippers, and switch between movement, lift rides, and breaks. That's why Reusch models differ not only in color and shape. Insulation, membrane, palm, and cuff collectively determine how the glove feels in these situations.

Start with your past experience of warmth. Do your hands get cold mainly on long lift rides, or are you looking for a more flexible model for mild days? Is wet snow often an issue, or do you primarily want to keep out the wind? These questions will help narrow down the selection more precisely than a general search for the thickest glove.

Fingered Glove or Mitten?

A fingered glove separates each finger individually. This can be comfortable when operating small fasteners and for precise gripping. In a mitten, several fingers are together in a common outer compartment. For your decision, you should compare both designs on a pole grip: How naturally can you close your hand, how much material is in your palm, and can your thumb move freely?

The outer shape alone doesn't explain the entire internal construction. Some mittens have separate finger compartments inside. Therefore, check the specific description if this particular difference is important to you. The amount of insulation and the fit also influence the feeling of warmth. A mitten is not automatically warmer in every version than every fingered glove.

A third type is the lobster glove, where some fingers are separated. In the Reusch brand world, you'll encounter this form, for example, within the Lando Junior family. It represents its own compromise between shared finger space and dexterity. Whether this is comfortable for you or your child is best determined by actually gripping something.

Morris and Charlotte: Different Model Approaches

The Morris GORE-TEX is a concrete example of a Reusch ski glove with a membrane. The manufacturer describes this model as having a goatskin palm, a flexible softshell backhand, and TecFill insulation. This combination shows why the palm and backhand should be considered separately: Where you grip, different material properties are relevant than on the back of your hand.

Charlotte R-TEX XT Mitten, as a mitten, has a different focus. The official manufacturer example includes a leather palm, a softshell backhand, and PrimaLoft Gold. It also features the R-TEX XT membrane. Such model information helps you with comparisons, but should always be checked against the specific item number. A similar name is not sufficient to equate equipment details across multiple variants.

Therefore, don't compare Morris and Charlotte solely by their outer size. The hand position, the feeling between the fingers, and the operation differ due to the design. If you often handle small objects, a different weighting may be possible than if you have a particularly high need for warmth. Your own priority determines which combination is more sensible.

Distinguishing R-TEX XT, GORE-TEX, and STORMBLOXX

Reusch describes R-TEX XT as a waterproof, windproof, and breathable membrane. In a correspondingly equipped glove, this construction is relevant for weather protection. However, the membrane does not yet tell you how much warmth the insulation provides or how flexible the palm is. Compare these properties as separate components of the glove.

GORE-TEX is also a specific membrane designation, found, for example, in the Morris. For your decision, the overall construction remains important: a membrane glove can be insulated to varying degrees and have different cuffs. Therefore, don't just look for a familiar technical name, but for a combination of weather protection, warmth, and usability that meets your requirements.

Reusch describes STORMBLOXX as windproof and water-repellent. Water repellency is not the same as the expressly stated waterproofness of a membrane construction. This distinction is relevant, for example, when comparing a Powerline STORMBLOXX model with an R-TEX XT glove. Check the product specifications of the specific item and do not derive weather protection solely from a robust or smooth-looking surface.

For a cross-brand comparison, you can find more ski gloves. First, choose the same design and a similar intended use. This makes differences between membrane, insulation, and palm clearer than if a thin casual fingered glove is evaluated alongside a heavily insulated ski mitten.

Advanced Heat: Additional Warmth with its Own Controls

Advanced Heat R-TEX XT stands for a heated glove concept at Reusch. In the official fingered glove, the electric heating is combined with a membrane and insulation. The heating is thus an additional component of the construction. It does not replace the correct size or the selection of weather protection suitable for a ski day.

If you choose a heated model, the battery, controls, and charging process are part of the decision. Check which components are included, how the heating levels are set, and what specifications apply to the particular version. Run times depend, among other things, on the chosen settings and conditions. A general hourly rating should therefore not be understood as a personal guarantee for a full day of skiing.

Also evaluate the wearing comfort with the battery inserted. The cuff must fit your jacket, and the controls should remain accessible. Consider whether you can easily integrate the charging process into your winter routine. A heated glove is particularly interesting if you consciously want to use the additional function and are not just looking for a soft lining.

Reusch Size Based on Hand Circumference

Reusch uses a size chart based on hand circumference for adult gloves. Measure according to the manufacturer's instructions and compare the result with the table for the specific item. This measurement is the starting point for trying them on. Finger length, hand width, and personal hand posture can then lead to different models feeling different in the same size.

Close your hand around a suitable grip and pay attention to your fingertips. They should not be continuously pressed against the material. At the same time, too much empty space can make operation difficult. Check the tension between your thumb and index finger, as well as on the back of your hand. A glove should follow the gripping motion without you having to work against its cut.

If you want to add a thin liner glove, try the combination together. Additional fabric takes up space and can make a previously well-fitting glove tighter. More layers therefore do not automatically mean a more comfortable result. Decide based on the complete setup you actually want to wear, and not on two individually well-fitting pieces.

Check Cuff, Jacket Sleeve, and Pole Grip Together

A longer cuff can be worn over a suitable jacket sleeve, while a more compact cuff is often integrated into the outfit differently. The intended construction of both parts is crucial. Check whether the sleeve and glove overlap sufficiently and whether the closures can be arranged without uncomfortable bulk.

The pole grip is part of the practical try-on. A heavily padded palm changes the feel differently than a thinner construction. Make sure you can hold the grip relaxed and that the strap fits the intended use. A Reusch glove is not compatible with every brand-specific click system solely because of its sporty design. Such systems require an expressly suitable version.

If necessary, also compare the ski poles with your hand position. A small difference in the grip can be more noticeable with a bulky glove. For the overall feel, both parts matter. The best solution is one where you can grip and operate the intended functions without constantly having to take off your glove.

Reusch Junior: Warmth and Independent Dressing

For children's gloves, in addition to warmth and weather protection, ease of use and a good fit are key. Lando R-TEX XT Junior is a manufacturer example of an insulated children's glove with a membrane. There are different designs within the family. Therefore, check the exact variant instead of automatically assuming a fingered glove or mitten from the family name.

Let the child move their fingers and hold a pole or similar grip. A model bought too large can hinder movement, even if it is supposedly meant to fit longer. Make sure the thumb is positioned correctly and the cuff works with the jacket. The right gloves for children facilitate a targeted comparison of sizes and designs.

Caring for Reusch Gloves After Your Ski Day

For care and drying, the label of the specific model is crucial. Reusch generally advises against washing gloves by hand or machine without checking the care instructions. Moisture should evaporate at room temperature; direct heat sources can damage materials. For leather parts, the appropriate care instructions and specifications of the used product also apply.

Therefore, after your ski day, plan some time for drying and do not store the gloves permanently moist and compressed. For heated models, also observe the instructions for the battery and electronics. By selecting based on warmth needs, design, weather protection, and grip feel, you will find a Reusch model whose properties you can understand and use meaningfully in everyday life.

05Questions about the brand

Frequently asked questions.

Are all Reusch ski gloves waterproof?

No, the specific features determine this. R-TEX XT and appropriately labelled GORE-TEX models have a stated membrane. Reusch describes STORMBLOXX, by contrast, as windproof and water-repellent. These properties are not equivalent. Read the information for your chosen item and also check the cuff, insulation and fit so the glove suits your typical ski day.

What matters when choosing heated Reusch gloves?

Alongside size and weather protection, consider the battery, controls and charging. Check the included components and the instructions for the specific version. Try the glove with the battery inserted and with your jacket. Battery life depends on settings and conditions, so a general manufacturer figure is not an individual promise of a full ski day.

Are Reusch mittens always warmer than five-finger gloves?

Warmth does not depend on the outer shape alone. Insulation, membrane, internal construction and a suitable fit also play a part. A mitten offers a different finger space, while a five-finger glove keeps each finger separate. Compare the specific construction on a pole grip and decide according to your warmth requirements and the dexterity you want during your ski day.

How do I find the right Reusch glove size?

Measure your hand circumference according to the manufacturer's instructions and use the size chart for the specific item. Then check the fit while gripping: the fingertips, base of the thumb and back of the hand should not remain under constant tension. Too much empty space can make handling difficult. If you want to wear liner gloves, assess the complete combination together rather than each piece separately.

How do I dry Reusch ski gloves?

Follow the care label and model instructions. In its general guidance, Reusch recommends drying at room temperature away from direct heat sources. Do not simply put gloves on a hot radiator. Heated models have additional requirements for the battery and electronics. Leather sections may also need care suited to the material.
